China Survey Endangered Wild Giant Panda Bear Census

China have finished 3 times wild panda census (first panda survey, 2nd panda census, 3rd panda servey), and each wild giant panda bear survey published. Once-a-decade census, 4th panda census started.
The  most comprehensive census of the endangered wild giant panda population is for survey of the wild panda population, distribution, habitat, habit, food, nature environment and local social environment and influence of endangered wild pandas.

1st Giant Panda Bear Census: 1974 - 1977, the survey says wild panda distributed in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu, about 43 counties, estimated a population of 2000 wild pandas. 80% of them living in Minshan Mountain Ranges.

2nd Giant Panda Bear Census: 1985 - 1988, the panda survey stated that there about 1114 wild pandas in about 34 counties total, also in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu province.

3nd Wild Giant Panda Bear Census: 1999 - 2003, the padna servey published that about 1596 (above 1.5 years adults) wild pandas in 45 counties total in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu. And 1206 of them in Sichuan. Captive and rasing panda 161. About 40 panda nature reserves in China. There are 23,049km2 of panda habitat in China. Panda habitat ranking as Sichuan: 17743.92km2 Shaanxi: 3478.64km2 Gansu: 1827.35km2. More than 61% of wild pandas are under protection in panda nature reserves. Top 3 counties wiht most population: Pingwu county 230; Wenchuan county 187; Baoxing county 143.

4th Wild National Panda Census: 2011 -  ?????,  started on 26Jun at Wanglang Nature Reserve, Sichuan, China.
This time, the trackers will collect panda droppings and trace for further studying panda footprints and wild panda DNA analysis, so as to ccurately estimate the number pandas living in the wild, as well as get data of pandas living conditions and their age structure. And now total about 62 nature reserves are home to 71 percent of China's panda population.

The survey says that the wild panda population is increasing steadily, but low growth..
